Makisha Boothe

Founder and Head Business Coach of Sistahbiz Global Network Denver, CO Award Year: 2021

As Founder and Head Business Coach of Sistahbiz Global Network, Makisha Boothe helps Black women entrepreneurs and microbusinesses build scalable, sellable businesses. Makisha also serves as Principal of Pivot Innovation Solutions, where she focuses on organizational development, community engagement, and diversity, inclusion and equity work. Previously, she led Imaginarium, the Denver Public Schools Innovation Lab. It was the first district-run lab of its kind in the nation, and helps principals redesign school models and test new instructional strategies in the classroom. She served as a senior advisor to the Colorado State Senate President and has been honored by the Colorado Black Chamber of Commerce, and the Aurora Chamber of Commerce as a “Women in Business” Unsung Hero. She was a recipient of the US Small Business Administration’s “Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award” in 2007.

Recent News
  • Makisha is using her award to close the equity gap in business for Black women entrepreneurs by delivering free and low-cost coaching to hundreds of women entrepreneurs. She is also providing business loans and grants.

  • Makisha has been recognized as one of Colorado’s top women in business, as well as featured in Forbes and Denver’s Business Journal for her work.
