Dr. Uché Blackstock

Dr. Blackstock uses her voice to advance health equity for patients and to address the detrimental effects of bias and structural racism on health outcomes. She has been featured in the press where she has shared her experiences as a physician working on the front lines of the pandemic and where she expressed concerns about racial health disparities and inequities exacerbated by the crisis. Dr. Blackstock became a Yahoo! NewsMedical Contributor in June 2020.
Dr. Blackstock is using her award to partner with two Black-led, Brooklyn-based organizations, Ancient Song Doula and The Brooklyn Movement Center, on projects that address and mitigate racism-based health inequities.
In 2020, she joined Yahoo! News Medical as a contributor after speaking out about her experiences as a physician working on the front lines of the COVID pandemic and how racial health disparities and inequities were exacerbated by the crisis.
Dr. Blackstock spoke with The TrustCast: An Edelman Podcast on how the Black and Latino communities have been impacted by the vaccine rollout and co-hosted a webinar on the safety and effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine.
