Dr. Kelli Seaton

Chief Learning Officer for The Center for Black Educator Development Philadelphia, PA Award Year: 2021

As Chief Learning Officer for The Center for Black Educator Development, Dr. Kelli Seaton is an innovative, visionary, outcomes-oriented educational leader who is passionate about educational equity and committed to ensuring that children of color experience learning environments that actively embrace results in academic achievement, cultural proficiency, critical consciousness and community activism. She previously served as a principal with Mastery Charter School-Pickett Campus where she led efforts to improve student outcomes and as Vice President for Teacher Leadership Development with Teach for America, where she managed a team of coaches and leaders serving more than 200 corps members in Trenton, Philadelphia, and Camden. After the horrific murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis, Minneapolis Public Schools reached out to ask Dr. Seaton to train up to 500 school and district staff in order to support Minneapolis educators in improving the mindsets and skills necessary to rebuild the community and improve teaching and learning. Dr. Seaton is currently working with educators across the country to improve their effectiveness in preparing the next generation of educators.

Recent News
  • Dr. Seaton is using her award to develop a pilot to coach and train executives on culturally responsive leadership and management. She is also continuing to draft a resource for leadership development that will help executives question how they are showing up as a leader.
